Save the Children - Philippines Appeal Golf Day

On Friday, 17 January 2014, the Nudgee Golf Club is hosting a charity golf day to raise valuable funds to go toward children that have been recently affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. To book your spot in the golf day, please call the office at the Nudgee Golf Club on 3267 7744.

Ten South East Queensland Golf Clubs have joined forces to launch an unprecedented golf club membership promotion.

This unique promotion commenced on Wednesday, 19 November 2013 and will give all new Members who join a participating golf club in a qualifying category the opportunity to win a Ford Fiesta Ambiente valued at over $19,000. An opportunity to win the car is also extended to current members that introduce a new member to the golf clubs. The campaign has been established with the aim of driving membership at the participating clubs in addressing the decline in membership numbers that golf club’s are experiencing across Australia.

Golf Course Etiquette 101

Repair of Divots, Ball-Marks and Damage by Shoes

Players should carefully repair any divot holes made by them and any damage to the putting green made by the impact of a ball (whether or not made by the player himself). Ladies, Let' Golf! 2nd session this Saturday

The first FREE golf introduction session was held at the club this morning which proved to be very successful. The ladies that attended really enjoyed the simple tuition provided by our resident teaching Professional, Gary Warburton along with Program Officer from Golf Queensland and Golf Professional, Virginia Irwin. After the clinic, the ladies retired back to the club house for some nibbles and a cold drink. Thanks very much to the ladies that attended and you are welcome to join us again this Saturday.

The next FREE golf introduction session is scheduled for this Saturday, 2 November at the Nudgee Golf Club from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. All are welcome to attend and participate. Coring and Sanding of our North Course Greens

Members and guests,

Please be advised our annual coring and sanding of the greens will commence on our North Golf Course only this Monday 28th October.  The North Golf Course will be closed on:

• Monday 28th October
• Tuesday 29th October
• Wednesday 30th October

Our South Golf Course greens have never been better, so please come down and enjoy the course before the greens are cored and sanded on Monday 25th November.

Congratulations to Scott Edmiston, Club Champion for 2013 who shot a fantastic, 2 under par today. Scott had rounds of 73, 71, 72 & 69 to beat Steve Hunter by 1 shot. Well done Scott.

Yesterday, a members survey was emailed out to the club database to obtain valuable feedback from the Nudgee Golf Club members. Feedback from club members is vital for the operation and I would like to thank all the members that have already completed the survey to date. The feedback thus far has been excellent and once the survey is complete, I will compile a summary for members to view.

Here at NGC, we are trialling free sessions for ladies/girls that have not experienced golf.Current lady members can join the clinics if they bring along a friend.

These Free introduction sessions to ladies and junior girls and will be held on:

•              2nd November, Saturday 1.30pm -2.30pm     

This is a FREE INTRODUCTION for new players who have not yet experienced the game and would like to give it a try in a supportive environment.

The "Challenge" has been set!

This Thursday 26th September is our first Yoga session specifically designed for the golfer.  Nudgee Golf Club General Manager Aaron Muirhead has set a challenge for the lady members, have 15 ladies attend the class and he will join in (suitably attired).

The class is open to men and ladies, please BYO mat, the first session is FREE and is run by a professional instructor.

Carina Leagues Club Charity Golf Day

In support of the Prostate Cancer Foundation.  Carina Leagues Club have put together 124 players from the club industry to enjoy a light breakfast, a round of golf, roast buffet lunch and a super raffle prize draw with some fantastic prizes on offer.  Even AVS Lime Technologies joined in and are popping some popcorn on the 1st tee to help keep the players nourished.

Bitumen bunker trial

We are trialling a bitumen based bunker on the left hand side of the 1st hole on the South course. The consistency of the bitumen used has been altered from normal bitumen to allow water to flow freely through into the drainage system below. The bitumen should also reduce any contamination of the sand and also reduce the movement of sand, resulting in the sand becoming powder over time. If the trial is deemed successful, the club may adopt this process across all bunkers as required. See photo's below of the construction process.

Yoga at Nudgee Golf Club

We can confirm that Yoga Classes designed to help golfers will be trialled at the club commencing next Thursday, 26th Sept from 12:15 pm - 45 min in duration.

Both ladies and men are welcome to attend this FREE yoga session. If possible, please bring a Yoga mat or a towel (mats can be purchased at Kmart, Big W or any sport store), but we should have a few spare to cover anyone that forgets.

As an introductory session it will be free of charge. Then the charge will be $10 per class and the duration will always be the 45 min – 1 hour.

Air Compressor and hose now connected!

We have installed an air compressor and retractable hose to assist in the cleaning of shoes, pull carts, buggies etc. It is located on the western side of the building, facing the clubs electric carts.

Ideal Bride Wedding Expo this weekend at Brisbane City Hall

Nudgee Golf Club is participating in the Ideal Bride Wedding Expo at the Brisbane City Hall (King George Square) this week from Friday (4pm - 8pm) afternoon to Sunday (Sat & Sund 10am - 4pm). Nudgee wins Division 1 pennant!

Congratulations to the Nudgee Golf Club Division 1 Pennants team for winning the flag for 2013. They sealed the flag with a solid win today against Oxley Golf Club at Nudgee with a 14.5 - 6.5 victory. Well done to all of the players and thanks to the caddies and the supporters.

2013 Nudgee Masters Classic Results

Congratulations to Gary Heslop and Josie Ryan for winning the men's and ladies Classic.

63 competitors teed off over the 2 day event in perfect conditions.  Huge thank you to David Brushfield and his team from the green keeping shed for preparing the golf course in tip top shape.  Also thanks to the Pro Shop staff for starting the field and the bar and catering staff for their services.  Well done to all the winners.

Day 2 of the Nudgee Masters Classic is underway today. The leaders after Round 1 are:

Solar installation update.

The rails are now secured to the roof and today, the solar panels are now being installed. There will be 130 panels fitted to provide the 33.8kw.

Beautiful day for an Interstate Series Final

Today, Nudgee Golf Club members will contest day two of the Interstate Senior Series Match for the Grahame MacDonald Challenge Cup (below).  Members from Tea Tree Gully Golf Club in South Australia have made the trip up and will stay on for the Nudgee Masters Classic (Thursday and Friday) and Australian Senior Championships next week at Royal Qld.

Current results for the Ryder Cup style event are, Nudgee leads Tea Tree Gully 5 games to 3 after day one. Singles matches on today.

Passing of a Nudgee Golf Club Member - Rob Anlezark

With sadness, one of our Nudgee Golf Club members has passed away. Rob Anlezark passed away on Saturday and his funeral is this Wed 2pm at the Anglican Church of Australia, 93 Sutton St Woody Point.

Black Tee Challenge today

A large number of golfers, 160 plus, enjoyed the first Black Tee Challenge on the South Course of the Nudgee Golf Club today. Comments received regarding the course set up have been excellent with many requesting that the next Black Tee be on the South Course again next month so that they can have another go. Thanks to our event sponsors - City Golf Club, Giesen Wines, John Downs Pro Shop & Carlton. The tee sheet is now open for the next Black Tee Challenge, scheduled for Friday, 20 September 2013 on the South Course. To book a tee time, please call the office on 32677744. QLD v NSW Indigenous Golf Match

Congratulations to NSW, the event was a 2 ball Ambrose competition with the average GROSS score determining the winning State.  NSW average was 76.7, QLD average was 77. Bamboo! What bamboo?

You will be pleased to know that the patch of bamboo situated on the left hand side of the 1st green South course was removed today. This will now allow the 1st green and the 18th tee the chance to improve due to excessive shade and moisture absorption from the bamboo. It will also allow the full use of the 18th tee as in the past, the area of usage has been minimised due to the overgrown bamboo.

Round 1 Brisbane District Golf Association for Division One Pennants teed off this morning with Nudgee playing Pacific at Pacific.

We are pleased to announce the overall points score was 11 to 10 in favour of Nudgee Golf Club. Congratulations players, great start!
